"Monistrol D´Anoia" is a very interesting XIXth. century agro-industrial historic architectural complex. The villa is surrounded by a huge vineyard just in the heart of Cava´s Wine cradle, near Sant Sadurní dAnoia, in Penedés.

The complex is typologically composed by the “masía” farmhouse, the factory (cava cellar), the workers´ housing and the church, all sited around a “plaza”, as a self-sufficient population, developed by an architectural Industrial Revolution model used in inner regions of Catalonia.

The name of this pincturesque complex built in 1882 by the Marquis of Monistrol, comes from latin "Monasteriolo" (small monastery). An older complex existed previously in the Middle Age, built by monks on the banks of river Anoia to attend the neighbors and tilling the vineyards.

The Project includes the following works (rehabilitation and new buildings) from 2001 to 2006, aiming the recondition the complex as a wine-turism center:

Visitors Centre´s rehabilitates the historic winery located in farmhouse´s basement, valuing the preserved medieval traces (Romanesque masonry walls and current building foundation).

    Offices module inside cava cellars.

New wine processing cellar for new wine estate brands, an isolated contemporary architectural module formally integrated in the historic complex

New visitor entrance plaza integrating new cellar in the vineyard´s landscape.

Farmhouse rehabilitation into a 17 rooms high quality hotel (not yet been approved).
