  CASTRUM-ERAT

Castuera preserves a traditional village scale where, despite presence of other religious or civil historical  buildings, the Tower of St. Mary Magdalene´s church still remains as the landmark reference, beware the distort action of modern developments over this historical heritage.

The proposed plot occupies a prime topographical position in the Cerrillo, defined by a rural small scale tipological structure, adapted to the local environment by an urban pattern where row houses are disposed in staggered way. An orderly disorder of built mass and the green vacuums.

A respectful and integrating attitude is required to build here. New architecture must merge in preexisting architecture; a chameleonic, generous and discreet architecture designed to provide more that it takes off…

No more confuses of modernity with deliriums, no more hysteric  screams  of hostile architecture,..., let´s "Castrum-erat" leave in peace,..., let´s save Castuera.

  The Building:

We propose a disaggregated building, adapted to local environment and scale,... small broken volumes to integrate a large and complex program.

Volumes articulated by inclined decks dialoguing with neighboring roofs,... plane green decks to recover the missing harvest platforms,... granite stone and white plaster walls.
